ADMINISTRATION NEWS

As we begin this new term, we want to remind everyone of our 4 school values; Care for our Environment, Care for Self, Care for Learning and Care for others.
Let's remember that each day is an opportunity to learn and grow, and that we all have the potential to achieve great things. Let's work together to make this term a successful and fulfilling one. We're excited to see what our students will accomplish.
There have been great reading accomplishments in 6LW and their reading tree has grown a number of leaves since the end of last term. Each leaf acknowledges that a student has completed a short book study on the novel they have finished reading.
Absences
Don’t forget to get in touch with us to let us know if your child will be away from school for any reason. Leave us a message on the absence line and we will ensure your child’s attendance record is updated without having to call you to check in to ensure all is well. Students who have unexplained absences for Term 1 will have receive a letter indicating the absences. Please complete this form and return to school so that your child’s absence details can be updated. All unexplained absences are recorded on your child’s end of semester report card.

Building Resilience at Home Webinar – Tuesday 13th May 6:30-7:30pm
This webinar is designed to empower parents and carers with practical strategies to practise Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM) at home.
Please register for the webinar using this link. and you will be sent a Zoom link and a calendar invite to the webinar.
Uniform Expectations
Our Year 6 students are leading the way with correct uniforms. Congratulations to the year 6 students who have been setting a great example for our students to follow. As the cooler mornings are well on their way, please ensure your child has the correct school jumper. Navy or black tracksuit pants and students may also wear tights under their shorts or skorts to keep warm.

FROM THE CURRICULUM DESK
Welcome back to another action-packed term!
This term each parent will receive a learning overview, outlining what your child is learning in their classroom this term. The overview will be a great conversation starter with your child to discuss how their day has been. Sometimes we can get stuck in the pattern of asking our children ‘Did you have a good day?’ or ‘How was your day?’ leaving the easiest answer to be yes or no. The overview can help us as parents ask about their learning and provoke a deeper conversation. For example, ‘What information report did you learn about today?’ or ‘Can you tell me what the word ‘matter’ means in science?’
This term is also a reporting term. You can expect to receive your child’s report card via email in the last week of term. Please make sure we have your current email address.
ANZAC DAY
On Thursday 24th April we came together as a whole school to take part in an ANZAC ceremony. Our student leaders did a fabulous job of running the ceremony. They made us so proud. We would also like to thank Mr Tim McNamara for being our special guest and veteran from the Cooroy Pomona RSL club. The ceremony finished with a beautiful song by the Choir and Mr G. Please enjoy these couple of photos we got on the day.
