MESSAGES FROM THE ADMINISTRATION TEAM
Family and Volunteers Week
It’s Family and Volunteers’ Week, I would like to acknowledge our dedicated volunteers. A special thank you to our wonderful volunteers who continue to assist in our classrooms, the tuckshop, at P&C events and during swimming lessons. Without your valuable support our small school would not be able to thrive – so thank you.
Outside School Hours Care – Tender Process
Under the current OSHC terms and conditions, OSHC service agreements with commercial providers have a maximum term of nine (9) years. It is a requirement of the Department of Education that a commercial service must be competitively tendered at a minimum of every nine (9) years. This provides a competitive opportunity for all Providers on the Pre-qualified Panel of Providers of OSHC Services (PQP101234) to tender for services when an agreement term has ended. Regular testing of the market for OSHC services, via public tender, is conducted to ensure that schools continue to achieve the best possible outcome for students and users of the service.
Our current agreement with Camp Australia to provide outside of school hours care ends at the end of the current school year.
Absences
Don’t forget to get in touch with us to let us know if your child will be away from school for any reason. Leave us a message on the absence line,54 808 222, and we will ensure your child’s attendance record is updated without having to call you to check in to ensure all is well.
Ensuring your child attends school on time everyday sets them up for a great start to the day. Arriving with plenty of time to put their belongings in the correct spaces within the classroom allows for a smooth transition to learning.

CYBERSAFETY
As a school community, we have the utmost commitment to supporting our students’ safety and wellbeing. Cybersafe behaviours and appropriate use of online communication form an important aspect of this, and is an ongoing priority for our students given their access to technology and the speed at which content can be shared.
Regular, ongoing and timely discussion, education and reflection about staying safe online is essential to support students in our digital world.
Cybersafe behaviours are taught at school as part of our curriculum. However, a reminder of some of the excellent resources available to parents and students is always useful.
Please find some excellent resources from the e-safety commissioner in the links below. These links cover a broad range of relevant topics including managing online reputation, disturbing content, parental controls and tips to support young people to stay safe online:

We understand an online environment can be challenging to navigate and resources such as these can assist parents and students in ensuring positive online experiences. Please be mindful that the majority of social media platforms have a recommended age for usage. Generally beginning from 12 years of age.
A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE P&C
The P&C would like to extend a huge thank you to Noosa Landcare and local business T-Leaf Co for donating native plants and Mother’s Day plant stakes for the Mother’s Day stall.
ROVING RESTORERS PROGRAM
Saturday 20th May 2023
When: 8:30 AM, 20 May
2023
Where: Yurol State Forest
The Roving Restorer program will be conducting monthly working bees at the Yurol State Forest.
We will treat environmental weeds within the current remnant forest areas and along tracks and trails. This will help improve the resilience of both the existing high biodiversity remnant vegetation areas and also the long-term management of the revegetation areas. It also provides an opportunity to learn bush regeneration techniques, plant identification skills and to make new friends!
Please contact Noosa Landcare Project Officer – Tamara - tamara.kubica@noosalandcare.org for further details.
Participants will be notified the day before the event of the exact location of the works.
Please arrive for an 8:30am start.
All tools will be provided.
Bring gloves, water, boots, sunscreen and insect repellent. Long-sleeved shirt, trousers and hat are essential (Workplace Health and Safety Regulations).
This project has received funding support from the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action grant program.
Rainforest ID workshop
When: 9:00 AM, 10 Jun
2023
Where: Rural Futures Centre, 65 Pavilion Street,
Pomona
Noosa Landcare will be hosting a full day rainforest trees and shrubs ID workshop with botanical gurus, Marc Russell and Phil Moran, on Saturday the 10th of June from 9AM-3:00PM at the Rural Futures Centre, Pomona.
Rainforest diversity can be a little overwhelming when it comes to species ID. Join Marc and Phil as they step you through practical ID tips and tricks of local rainforest plants.
The day includes an information session on rainforest tree and shrub plant identification, followed by a ‘walk and talk’ session to identify rainforest species in their natural habitat.
Light refreshments and lunch provided.
Participants provided take home ID resources. We will have copies of Rainforest Trees and Shrubs field guides for sale on the day, $50.00 per book. Please bring along a copy of the book if you have one.
