MESSAGES FROM THE ADMINISTRATION TEAM

A warm welcome back to all our families.

Welcome back to school after the holidays! We hope that you had a wonderful break and that you are feeling recharged and ready to tackle the new term ahead. We are also lucky to have a number of new families joining us.

As we begin this new term, we want to remind everyone of our 4 school values; Care for our Environment, Care for Self, Care for Learning and Care for others.

Let's remember that each day is an opportunity to learn and grow, and that we all have the potential to achieve great things. Let's work together to make this term a successful and fulfilling one. We're excited to see what our students will accomplish!

Look how great our first week back has been…

Finally, we want to thank you for being a part of our school community. We are proud of each and every student and we look forward to another successful term together.

Best wishes for a productive and rewarding term ahead!

Absences

Don’t forget to get in touch with us to let us know if your child will be away from school for any reason. Leave us a message on the absence line, 54 808 222. This is a 24/7 service and we will ensure your child’s attendance record is updated without having to call you to check in to ensure all is well.

Uniform Expectations

Many students have been leading by example this week with all students in correct school uniform, School Shirt, School Shorts or School Skort, black or white socks and a school hat. It is lovely to see.

ANZAC Day

Our school will be conducting an ANZAC Day service on Monday 24th April at 9.30am in the undercover area. All parents and members of the community are welcome to attend.

The Cooroy-Pomona RSL Sub-Branch will be conducting Anzac Day Commemoration Services in Cooroy on Tuesday 25th April, Anzac Day, a national public holiday.

We invite the student leaders of Pomona State School to be involved in this by attending the Dawn service and laying a wreath. The Dawn Service will be held at the Cooroy Cenotaph in Tewantin Road, commencing at 4.55am. Please notify our Principal Alyson Covey if you would like to attend.

Traditionally we proudly march as a school for the main ANZAC service beginning at 10:30am. If you would like to join us this year, please meet at the Cooroy Butter Factory by 10:00am for a 10:30 start in your full school uniform. We are excited to represent our school at this important community event.

Cookbook fundraiser

PLATES OF POMONA

The Pomona SS P&C are excited to invite our school community to get involved in our upcoming 'Plates of Pomona' Cook Book!

The P&C have chosen to create a cookbook, a gorgeous coffee table worthy cookbook, to fundraise to upgrade our year 2 & 3 playground.

Advertising

We are offering our advertising spaces to our school community first, so if you have a business in and around the area, or work for a company that would be keen to get involved, lock your space in quick. Your business does not need to be food related.

We have a limited number of advertising spaces within our cook book, so please get in touch with Jess via email on pomonasspandc@gmail.com or phone 0408 050 408.

All of the details are in the attached flyer.

Want to help?

If you would like to help with the production of the cookbook, whether that be editing or recipe testing, photography or just to lend a hand, we would love to have helpers!

Extra Info about the project

Over the next couple of months, we will be calling out to you, our school community, to submit a recipe to contribute to the cookbook, this can be something you have created, a family favourite that's been handed down through the generations or just a regular rotation in your kitchen.

If you would like any extra info, please get in touch.

Many thanks

Jess

RAISING RESILIENT CHILDREN

FREE PARENTING Webinar

Raising Resilient Children – find out more about cybersafety

Thursday 27th April, 7:00 – 8:00PM

Hosted ONLINE by Sunshine Beach State School, Pomona State School, Kin Kin State School and Cooran State School.

Many parents worry about what their kids are doing online but aren’t sure how to best protect them. We all do our best to supervise our children’s online activities, but there are also other steps we can take. That’s why we’re proud to be hosting a Triple P Seminar to help all parents give children useful skills and strategies to manage their emotions, overcome challenges, and handle situations such as unpleasant online interactions. Whatever stage of life your child is at or what challenges you are facing as a parent, the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program can help make raising kids easier, and help you guide them towards a happy and successful adulthood.

Triple P’s Raising Resilient Children Seminar offers tips on how to develop your child’s ability to cope with problems, now and in the future, in real-life and online.

HELP YOUR KIDS COPE WITH LIFE’S UPS AND DOWNS – INCLUDING ONLINE

  • Problem-solve with your child, to help them stay safe and manage risks online
  • Support your child’s ability to manage emotional ups and downs
  • Manage screen time and set age-appropriate boundaries
  • Know what actions to take if your child is being bullied online
  • Help your child cope with stress and setbacks and stay positive

The seminar is fun and friendly and it’s FREE! It’ll help kids AND parents take the drama out of family life (and screen time) so everyone can deal with issues calmly and more confidently.

REGISTER NOW FOR THE FREE ONLINE SEMINAR to learn more and book your free spot.

Triple P also offers other seminars, group workshops and one-on-one consultations, as well as Triple P Online, Teen Triple P Online, and Fear-Less Triple P Online (web-based courses you do in your own time, at your own pace). There are also a range of Stepping Stones Triple P programs, which are tailored specifically for parents of a child with a disability. New Fear-Less Triple P helps parents of anxious children and teenagers.
