Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal

Tribal Link Experience
On Tuesday, my class went to the Tribal Link Experience. It was interesting, fun and you learnt a lot! There were two different experiences, one was the outdoor, the other, indoor. First off, we had the outdoor. We made boomerangs and painted our face with ochre. The ochre was white because that colour is your friendly colour, unlike red ochre which meant you wanted to fight or start a war when you wore it. Good thing we didn’t have yellow ochre because that meant you were getting married when you wore it! We made boomerangs and decorated them with aboriginal symbols, don’t worry though they were made only with card paper but they worked like a charm! I found that learning the meanings of the symbols, quite interesting and fascinating.
After the outdoor experience we did the indoor experience inside a beautiful mobile classroom (a van). What awaited inside was something so much more amazing then what I expected. We got told stories and learnt about all different things like the Glass House Mountains, bunya pines and much more! We learnt about the bunya nuts and how that in each pod there (most of the time) are seeds you can cook and eat. We learnt about a special place were only girls can visit and apparently when a girl goes there when they come out there no longer a child or treated like a child. We learnt so much more and I hope one day I could do it again.

PROCEDURES FOR………..
UPDATING PARENT/CARER CONTACT DETAILS
Please ensure our office have your correct contact details – telephone numbers (for us to contact you – particularly important in the case of an emergency with your child), and email address (for invoices, newsletter, etc). Please also ensure that your child/ren’s emergency contacts are up to date.
ADMINSTERING MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
If your child requires staff to administer medication at school, please contact the school office in the first instance to discuss your child’s requirements.
Please note, school staff will only administer medication that:
- has been prescribed by a qualified health practitioner (e.g. doctor, dentist)
- is in its original container
- has an attached pharmacy label. Pharmacy label must show prescribing doctor’s name.
Office staff will ask you to complete and sign Section 1 of the Administration of medication at school record sheet.
School staff are bound by these regulations and we hope that all parents will acknowledge and cooperate with these rules.
HEAD LICE
The presence of head lice is a very common childhood occurrence in the community. The primary responsibility for the management and treatment of head lice in students belongs with parents.
As a school we notify parents via a letter if a parent has reported to the school that their child has head lice. This letter is sent to all the students in the class.
Students who are suspected of having head lice or eggs present in their hair are not excluded from class or school. However, if notified by the school, a parent may choose to remove their child from school to administer immediate treatment to their child.
REGULAR ATTENDANCE
EVERY DAY COUNTS – the message is the same in 2020. The simple fact is, the more regularly your child attends school, the more they learn. Aside from illness and bereavement, for example, attendance is expected every day. Keep an eye out on Facebook for regular videos from Education Queensland. If for any reason your child will be absent from school, please ring our 24/7 absentee line on 54 808 260 prior to 8.45am.
STAFF MEETING DAY - TUESDAY
Parents, please be advised that on Tuesday afternoon I request that all teaching staff attend a meeting which starts at 3:00pm. Staff will leave their rooms quickly once the bell rings to signal the end of the day. If you have anything urgent to discuss with your child’s teacher please leave a message at the office for that teacher

YEARS 5 AND 6 EXPLORING BEHAVIOURAL ADAPTIONS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND THE ARTS
Students in Years 5 and 6 have been exploring the structural features and behavioural adaptions that assist living things to survive in their environment in Science, Technology and the Arts in Term 2. Students have had fun creating creatures that are adapted to survive in two different environments. At the end of the term our Year 5 and 6 students put together their new knowledge and understanding to plan, design and create a sculptural artwork to represent an animal during their STEAM Day challenge. All artworks were amazing!

3AB AND THE FANTASTIC MR FOX
During Term 2, students in 3AB thoroughly enjoyed the hilarious book, Fantastic Mr Fox written by Roald Dahl, one of the greatest story tellers of all time. After completing an in-depth novel study of this delightful story, the students concluded the term with a drama production. Students were required to work collaboratively in a group by writing their own scripts, creating props, and working on movement, gestures, and voice projection. This was followed by a Fantastic Mr Fox feast, which included dancing and games based on foxes. The performances were fantastic, enhanced by amazing costumes and masks.

2KL HAVE A BUSY TERM AHEAD
2KL are looking forward to an exciting Term 3. Their fun started this week when they participated in two sessions of the Tribal Link experience as a part of NAIDOC Week celebrations. The children enjoyed artefact talks, using ochre, painting animals and listening to Dreamtime stories in the Tribal Link Mobile Classroom. The storytelling from the incursion connected well to their current English Unit which focuses on retelling cultural stories. In English, the children will continue to focus on the structure of narratives and work towards writing their own cultural story. Next month, they will engage in Science Week activities and dress as their favourite book character in the annual Book Week Character Parade. At the end of the term, 2KL will attend an excursion to the Noosa Museum and the Majestic Theatre with all of the other Year 2s. This will be a culminating activity for their HASS studies when they learn about significant historical sites in our local area.

SIX MILE BRIDGE MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) wishes to advise about upcoming maintenance works on Six Mile Creek Bridge located on Pomona-Kin Kin Road (locally known as Kin Kin Road), three kilometres north of Pomona.
Please see the attached map of the work zone.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads' (TMR) maintenance contractor will be replacing the asphalt bridge deck wearing surface to address the uneven road surface on the bridge. The works will provide a smoother, safer surface on the bridge deck, improving conditions for all road users.
What to expect
- Bridge deck maintenance works are scheduled to begin in mid-July 2021, weather and construction scheduling permitting and are anticipated to take three weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
- The majority of works will be undertaken during the day, with some night works also required.
- Day works will take place Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm while night works will be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 6pm and 6am.
- Nearby residents will experience noise, light and possible vibration during works.
- Motorists will experience minor delays when temporary single lane closures are implemented. Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits, LED speed signs and variable message signs will be in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions and to ensure motorist and road worker safety.
- Priority access through the work zone will be given to emergency vehicles.
Six Mile Creek Bridge replacement update
- Replacing the single-lane timber bridge is priority, and design work is continuing for the replacement project.
- The project will replace the existing timber bridge with a sturdier bridge structure capable of transporting two lanes of traffic (one lane in each direction).
- Design is expected to be complete in late 2021 with construction planned for 2022, weather and construction scheduling permitting.
- Geotechnical investigations to inform the design work will be undertaken from the week commencing 22 July 2021, weather and site conditions permitting.
- TMR will continue to keep the community updated regarding the project.
The contractor will endeavour to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum during the bridge maintenance works. TMR understands works can be frustrating for nearby residents, businesses and road users and acknowledges the cooperation and patience of stakeholders while works are undertaken.
