EARLY COLLECTION OF STUDENTS/ LATE ARRIVALS
If you need to collect your child early from school, please report to the school office and the Admin Officer will complete a OneSchool entry explaining the early departure. The office will then contact the classroom for your child to come to the office and meet you.
If your child arrives at school after the second bell at 8:45am they must report to the school office to receive a Late Slip. No Late Slip, no entry to the classroom.

ENGAGED AND EXCELLING: OUR KIDS DIVE INTO TERM 3
This term at Pomona State School, our students have been enthusiastically exploring new skills in both English and Mathematics, making great strides in their learning journeys.
In English, the focus has been on persuasive texts. Our young writers are discovering how to craft convincing arguments and express their ideas clearly and confidently. From writing letters to friends to creating compelling advertisements, students are learning to use persuasive language techniques such as strong reasons, emotive words, and engaging openings. It’s wonderful to see their creativity and critical thinking skills flourish as they aim to persuade and inspire their readers.
Meanwhile, in Mathematics, the spotlight is on number and measurement. Students are building a solid understanding of numbers, practicing skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, while also exploring concepts of length, mass, capacity, and time. Hands-on activities and real-life problem solving help bring these mathematical ideas to life, making learning practical and meaningful.
We are proud of our students’ hard work and enthusiasm this term and look forward to watching their continued growth in these important areas.

NOOSA DISTRICT TRACK & FIELD CARNIVAL
The 2025 Noosa District Track & Field Carnival was an outstanding day of competition, teamwork, and school pride. Our students gave it their all across every event – from the 100m sprint to high jump and shot put – showing incredible effort, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout. It was fantastic to see so many personal bests achieved and students stepping up to represent their school with pride. The atmosphere was electric, and the support from staff and peers really lifted our athletes. Congratulations to Tate G for winning the 12-year-old 100m, Isaac C for coming second in the 12-year-old shot put and to Georgia C for achieving third in the 11-year-old high jump. A huge thank you to all who participated, helped run events, or cheered from the sidelines – you made the day a success!

6CL HAVE BEEN HAVING FUN LEARNING HOW TO BUDGET
6CL students designed their own food truck businesses, complete with logos, menus, pricing, budgets and profit plans. They built creative 3D models and presented their ideas to the class. This hands-on project combined design, maths, and entrepreneurship in a fun and engaging way.

CANCER COUNCIL FREE DRESS DAY

2025 CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK
Children’s Book Week 2025 will take place from August 17 to August 23, with the theme ‘Book an Adventure!’ Pomona School will celebrate the love of books with a Book Fair which will run in the school hall for the whole week. Please see the flyer below for the book fair opening times. The book fair is a great opportunity to either celebrate a love of reading or inspire reluctant readers to discover the joy of reading. There will be a lovely range of books and fun activity packs. The books are kindly supplied by Book Warehouse and they reward us with books or funds as a commission. With the end of the year coming around fast, it is a great opportunity to get in some early Christmas shopping.
For those of you who cannot get to the Book Fair at the school, the books will also be available to purchase online. Any books purchased online will be delivered to the school free of charge. Details of the online access to the fair will be sent home closer to the fair. Please feel free to contact Sandy in the Library for more details. Her email address is snich127@eq.edu.au.
To end the week of celebration, we will hold the much-anticipated Book Character Costume Parade which will be held in the school hall from 9am on Friday 22nd August. Students and staff are encouraged to dress as one of their favourite book characters and there will be book prizes on offer for the best dressed characters in each year level. Please encourage your children to dress up and if they are short of ideas, please send them to see Sandy in the library.
